Why should you care about the extraction methods used on Hemp Extract products?
Extraction methods are something you should have a basic understanding of. As each method has some key advantages and some limits in their chemicals used and what it does to extract the key components for Hemp Extract Oils.
Most companies purchase oils from suppliers – and might not know the methods used to extract the Full Spectrum Oils. Some methods use Hexane, Butane or Acetone – to separate the oils from the plants under pressure. This is great in many situations, just as a car is great – until you want to tow a big boat – then you need a truck. Each has an advantage and disadvantage – we pick the BEST method for the product being delivered to the consumer.
Soat ENCO Scientific we use a variety of methods – aligning the methods with specific product use. No many companies have adopted this strategy to link an Extraction Method to the use of products.
At ENDO we feel this is critical to get the BEST Product possible into the hands of those that need it. So for our Cremes – we use the CO2 Extraction Method.
What is Supercritical CO2 Extraction?
Supercritical CO2 Extraction is a method of separating cannabinoids from the plant using liquid Carbon Dioxide. The Carbon Dioxide is held at just the right temperature and pressure to keep it in a liquid state while it pulls the essential oils, and other parts of the hemp plant out. The CO2 is then depressurized to turn it back into a gaseous form, yielding Hemp Compound-rich oils.
Why use Supercritical CO2 Extraction?
Using Supercritical CO2 as a solvent for extraction leaves no harmful chemicals behind in the final product. This method is used to remove Caffeine from Decaffeinated Coffee and works wonderfully to extract cannabinoids from the hemp plant. Supercritical CO2 Extraction makes a safe, nutrient-rich Hemp Compound extract.
At ENDO Scientific – they use this process on some of our key products that are transdermal – IE products for the body as this retains the key oils in the plant that would be removed by the processes listed below.
Other solvents such as butane, acetone, and hexane that can be used to extract Hemp Compound can leave behind a toxic residue. Supercritical CO2 Extraction leaves nothing but cannabinoids behind. While most Hemp Compound is extracted using solvents that aren’t harmful, Supercritical CO2 Extraction leaves behind 0 residual chemicals giving you nothing but pure Hemp Compound.
